Yesterday, December 16, (2004) we learned of the death of Mr. Thomas J. Keenan. Mr. Keenan had a lengthy illness and was in Temple University Hospital. We, at the high school, have stayed in touch with Tom and his family throughout the illness. The news brought great sadness to all of us in the PVHS family. Mr. Keenan was a social studies teacher in Perkiomen Valley for 44 years. He built an excellent working relationship with students, parents, and the community. He taught his students an understanding of culture, history, and the value of citizenship. Known by many students as "a favorite teacher," Mr. Keenan always recognized the importance of our school activity program. He often attended sporting events and school activities. He was a regular presentor at many of our awards programs in support of academic excellence. In classes, and in conversations with students, Mr. Keenan stressed the importance of participation in school life. Mr. Keenan was a positive spokesperson for our school and for our student body. His caring and his encouragement were appreciated by all of us. We will miss Tom. He was a fantastic friend and a great teacher.
